Memorial Day Weekend 2012

O God, I ask You, watch over those exposed to the horror of war, and the spiritual dangers of a soldier’s or sailor’s life.

Give them such a strong faith that no human respect may ever lead them to deny it, nor fear ever to practice it. By Your grace, O God, fortify them against the contagion of bad example, that being preserved from vice, and serving You faithfully, they may be ready to meet you face to face when they are so called: through Christ our Lord. Amen

Heavenly Sovereign, inspire them with sorrow for sin, and grant them pardon. Be with them on the battlefield during life and at the hour of death, and grant that they may live and die in the grace of thy Son. May their Guardian Angel protect them. Amen.

Don't forget to pray

I found this on FB and figure it was worth sharing here. We all need to pray more. Follow in their footsteps and pray for everyday.

God bless us all.

Mother Teresa Quotes On Giving and Serving Others

We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But
the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.
~Mother Teresa

If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one.
~Mother Teresa

The miracle is not that we do this work, but that we are happy to do it.
~Mother Teresa

Let us touch the dying, the poor, the lonely and the unwanted according
to the graces we have received and let us not be ashamed or slow to
do the humble work.
~Mother Teresa

Do not wait for leaders; do it alone, person to person.
~Mother Teresa

Praying is not easy...

Praying is not easy. Every day so many other things call for attention. The
world puts little to no value on prayer. The world points our attention to
anything and everything except faith and prayer. The world will have you
focus on materialistic things that distract us from our faith in God.

Doesn't matter where you are, anytime is always a good time for prayer. God
wants us to pray to him every day, many time a day. We need to praise him,
confess our sins to him, and be grateful for everything God has done and
will do for you and everyone around you.

We all fall into hard times and get distracted by worldly things. Don't fall
into Satan's traps and distraction, keep your focus on the Lord our God.
Praise Him, Confess to Him, be Grateful to Him each and every day, many
times a day.

Thank you for visiting our blog.

Prayer: Choice and Commitment

Father God - inspire me to live in such a way
that my choices each day
and my commitment to live in a positive way
may transform
the negative into something positive
and the ordinariness of daily life
into something extraordinary. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Prayer: I will be busy

O Lord,
You know how busy I must be this day.
If I forget you, do not forget me.
Author: Sir Jacob Astley, before the Battle of Edgehill, 1642

Prayer: Make us worthy

Make us worthy, Lord, to serve our fellow men
throughout the world who live and die in poverty and hunger.

Give them through our hands this day their daily bread,
and by our understanding love, give peace and joy.

How to pray (ACT)

When I pray, I try to remember the acronym ACT. ACT spelled out is; Affirmation, Confession, Thankful.

Many times when we pray we forget that these three acts are required by God. God wants us to acknowledge him and praise him which is declaring he is a true and loving God. Most religions have some sort of confession involved. God wants us come to him and confess our sins to him regularly. Then being thankful with gratitude is very important. Without being thankful with gratitude how can you accept the answers of your prayer to ever happen. Why should God answer your prayer if you are not going to be grateful if he were to answer what you are praying for.

Affirmation is a declaration that something is true.
Confession is the acknowledgment of sin (or one's sinfulness) or wrongs.
Thankful may refer to: Gratitude (or thankfulness), a positive emotion or attitude in acknowledgment of a benefit that one has received or will receive

Most people pray and ask for things from God without ever praising God in all his glory. Many pray for things from God without ever confessing their sins. And many pray for things from God without being thankful or grateful if what they were praying for actually answering their prayer.
If one does not do these things that God requests of us, then why should God do anything that we request?

Thank you for visiting our blog.

Father God - We praise you and all your glory. We thank you for making the sacrifice of your only son so we can be save and be granted the gift of eternal life even though we do not deserve such gift. We are not perfect and we sin every day, but through the sacrifice of your son we are forgiven and cleansed and we thank you. Father God, please find a place in my heart and life. May my daily life be used for your ministries. May my acts be a reflection of you. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Prayer: Does It Make Any Difference?

God Bless Our Heroes

I am glad our country establishes monuments and statues in recognition of our heroes who fight for our country. I am unaware of any other nation having a volunteer military like the U.S.A.. We got rid of the draft and all of our service members sign up by choice. It is their choice to volunteer and fight for our freedoms and rights that we cherish today. It is because of these young men and women that are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice allows us to sleep in peace at night.

Remember that while you are sleeping in your bed peacefully tonight there is someone staying awake on a ship off of some foreign cost watching out for your and my safety. While you are safe in your car driving your little ones to school or an after school event, there is an American on foreign soil fighting for you to keep your freedoms and security which allows you to spend time safely with your little ones.

These two pictures were taken on Christmas Eve 2011 at the Vietnam memorial in Washington DC. Please take the time and pray for those who are fighting for our country. Remember that many of them are there fighting because it is their sworn duty to fight and defend our great nation with honor, courage and commitment. When we pray let’s not forget them.

Your Spiritual Journey

A spiritual journey is very personal and can be the most educational event in your life. It does not take having a high school education or a graduate degree and still you can adventure on the most enlightening spiritual journey. A spiritual journey can be private or public.

Starting your spiritual journey means your desire to grow and mature your inner self and self discovery. From your early days until the present, the world has offered endless opportunities to mature in a process of discovery leading to deeper insight into the mystery of life. Spiritual journey's start with you and no one else can ever take your experience away from you.

Over time, I will expand on the topics I post here in the blog. I will be comparing the Tao other spiritual influence to my walk in Christianity.

Jesus Did It Anyway (Book)

There is a particular book I use in my witness in Christ. This book is useful even for non-Christians. The book is named "Jesus Did It Anyway". We all need to wish well for others and do good anyway even though others will accuse of of ulterior motives.

I have given away a few dozen copies of this book. People usually ask if they can pay me for it or something else. All I ever ask is to "pay it forward". Here is an idea of what's found in the book:

The Paradoxical Commandments
by Dr. Kent M. Keith

People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.

The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.
Think big anyway.

People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.

People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.
Help people anyway.

Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you have anyway.

Spiritual growth is a never ending phenomenon

Spiritual growth is a never ending phenomenon. People may spend their entire
lives trying to find spiritual peace while other may find it in a matter of
days. Once you start that spiritual journey, the spirit inside you awakens
and only then will you find a much happier, fulfilling life. Only when you
understand your inner self and your inner energy from within can you find
peace of the mind and soul.

The phenomenon that we call life is just that a phenomenon that we may never
truly understand. Mother nature is a phenomenon. The wind blows, the water
moves, and out of nothing a life can be created.

There are so many different religions that talk similar aspects of a
spiritual journey and your inner energy of from within. Regardless of the
religion we all claim, remember that we all can learn from and help each
other as we all take our own spiritual journey.
